The main goal of this Second International Symposium known as “Medical Engineering Meeting in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MEMeet'09)” is to provide scientists,  industry professionals, engineers and, biomedical professionals interested in knowing, analysing and debating the most current topics in research, education, industrial and clinical applications in terms of Biomedical Engineering applied to minimally invasive surgery with a  forum of discussion and a meeting point.

MEMeet'09 continues the first symposium edition (MEMeet'07), which was mainly focused on robotic surgery and implants applications, where 23 international invited speakers and more than 170 attendees came along.

Likewise, MEMeet wishes to reinforce the aim to promote the participation of the young and future researchers interested in scientific-technological advances as far as biomedical engineering and minimally invasive surgery are concerned.

The main topics which will be dealt with in MEMeet'09 are

Computer assisted surgery:

Where such discipline together with future tendencies related to a augmented reality, devices and objects' follow-up techniques, navigation systems and surgical planning, image treatment and virtual simulation will be discussed.

Cardiovascular surgery:

Where artificial organs' developments, micro and nano robotic technologies and, heart and cardiovascular system's virtual simulations will be introduced.
