MEMeet 2009, the second international symposium as far as Medical Engineering applied to minimally invasive surgery is concerned, will be held on the 23rd and 24th October in Cáceres, Spain.

MEMeet 2009


Minimally invasive surgery techniques have revolutionized surgical procedures for the last years, thanks to the advantages it offers to both patients and health care. Moreover, the incorporation of engineering and technological developments allow to replace increasingly its disadvantages, allowing to increase the professionals' capacity and, therefore the patients' life's quality.
This second edition carries on the first edition's philosophy. Its aim is to create a common space where engineering, medicine and the business area will gather in order to look for common solutions to answer the increasing needs of the sector.


Keeping the same format as last edition, MEMeet2007, invited speakers will explain the last reached advances and the future fields of medical engineering application. They will also put forward their researches during the symposium, as well as workshops related to the subject matter of the day will take place. MEMeet2009's organization team offers the possibility of doing the symposium live through the internet without being geographical limits a problem. It also includes a new system to answer all sorts of queries. At the same time, a trade fair will take place where both scientific and business communities can get in touch and learn about the latest medical engineering contributions.

The topics for this edition will be focused on computer assisted surgery and cardiovascular surgery.
